Frequently asked questions

Does on-card grinding replace off-card flat grinding entirely?

For routine tip maintenance, largely yes. Heavily damaged or worn-out flats still need reclothing or specialist correction; on-card grinding maintains geometry, it does not rebuild lost wire height.

How often should flats be ground?

By evidence — nep levels, flat condition and web quality — not by calendar. Frequent grinding without diagnosis shortens clothing life while masking the underlying cause. We provide an interval framework at commissioning.
